Opening Reception: Friday, November 6, 2026 | 5–8 p.m.
Studios Inc is excited to announce “Infinity / Loops”, a solo exhibition by Casey Whittier. Studios Inc will host an opening reception from 5-8 pm on Friday, November 6th, and the exhibition will remain on view through December 19th. An artist talk will be held Saturday, November 7th, at 1pm, and a Performance by Clay Yoga Sculpt featuring local collaborators Sydney Clark and Mars Fruit, will take place at 1:30 pm.
“Infinity / Loops includes bodies of work that have run parallel in Whittier’s practice during her residency period at Studios Inc, including works from an on-going collaboration with Rena Detrixhe, Seed Dispersal Strategies; an on-going collaboration with Andrew Castañeda and Erin Conyers, Clay Yoga Sculpt, and groupings of ceramic and fiber works that explore repetition, materiality, shadow, and connection.
Whittier’s practice is multifaceted and non-linear, encompassing different approaches and outcomes through form and material. Her projects are idea-driven, language-inspired, and contextual. Throughout her career, Whittier has returned again and again to clay for its physical and metaphorical relationships to time, lifecycle, place, and transformation. Depending on the project, clay may be harvested locally and minimally processed, reclaimed from other artists or projects, used as a markmaking material, handmixed in small batches, fired, or unfired.
A collaborative spirit is at the heart of her interactions with this material and within her understanding of the possibilities of artmaking. Thinking of materials – their life cycles, and the processes enacted in accordance with their properties and propensities – as active participants in the artwork guides her approach. A commitment to collaboration with other artists, with living matter, and with the process of transformation is a way of looking for something more than the single artist imagines. Here, the outcomes are more strange, more expansive, and more fertile precisely because we don’t know exactly what it will look like, or how it will go, or if it will work. We choose to discover, together.
